Fascism was defeated before, will be done again: Kamal Haasan extends support to AR Murugadoss over Sarkar row

The AR Murugadoss-directed film, Sarkar, has been embroiled in controversies ever since its release earlier this month on November 7. And the controversies doesn't seem to end anytime soon. But throwing his weight against the controversy and extending support to Murugadoss is Kamal Haasan.

The superstar has reacted to the government's decision asking Murugadoss to sign an undertaking stating he will not criticize the government in his films again. He took to Twitter on Tuesday and questioned the decision adding that the film has already been certified by the Central Board of Film Certification. Haasan also added that this isn't what democracy stands for.
His tweet read as, “Sarkar has been certified by CBFC. Yet Government dares to muffle the right of people to express. This is not democracy. Fascism was defeated before, will be done again. @ARMurugadoss.”

For the uninitiated, the State public prosecutor opposed Murugadoss' bail plea and asking them for the above-said undertaking. The prosecutor also demanded an unconditional apology over the concerned scenes in the film.
While Murugadoss hasn't yet reacted to the government's stance, his counsel has informed that the decision will be announced tomorrow. The case is now posted for Wednesday.
The film had landed in a controversy soon after its release and the issue blew over when the film's producers agreed to remove the 'objectionable' scenes from the film including an apparent reference to late chief minister J Jayalalithaa and criticism of welfare schemes initiated by her, and the AIADMK government welcoming it.
